New Air-conditioning

.

The chemist shop under dust sheetsDuring the week 10-14 December new air-conditioning machinery and associated pipework are being installed in the Museum and in the meeting/exhibition room next door.

As a precaution against the dust that could have accumulated in the roof space being released when suspended ceiling tiles are removed, as much as practical of the Museum has been covered with polyethylene film dust sheets. It has given the chemist shop in particular the ghostly aspect that can be seen in the photograph.

For the last couple of weeks, since the old machinery (only 15 years old, but past it apparently) finally closed down, the temperature in the Museum has dropped to 10 degrees. When the work is finished we hope for a straight-line trace on our recorder of 19 degrees and relative humidity of 50% again.
