.
Today Bradford on Avon is a small picturesque West of England market town earning its living from services, high-tech companies, tourism, retirement and as a dormitory.
It was not always so- until as recently as the early 1990s, when the Avon Rubber closed, it was an industrial town with a long history of woollen cloth mills, pioneering rubber factories, breweries, stone quarrying and iron founding and engineering works. In many ways it is a microcosm of post-industrial Britain and the western world.
