The Inclosure of Holt Common land
Holt, Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire

.
The record of the enclosure (or inclosure) of the open fields of the Bradford Hundred is very sparse. Almost certainly it was done informally as deals between the landowners to group together their scattered small parcels of land, without going to higher authority.
An exception is the late enclosure of three pieces of common land in Holt, which took place in 1867: Great Common, Little Common and Ham Green.
Both Great Common and Little Common have been built on, with the school on the former field between them, but Ham Green remains as a small public open space.
On the northern side of the Bradford to Melksham Turnpike Road, which was the northern boundary of Great Common, was the Green Dragon public house in the first half of the 19th century.
