The Middle Ages are usually taken to have ended in 1485 with Henry VII Tudor’s victory over Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field, although life didn’t really change much until the Reformation under Henry VIII.

From then until the Modern Period, history is, perhaps artificially, divided by the periods of the royal dynasties.
