Discussion Group: The Castles of the Norman Conquest

Wednesday 4th March, 7:30pm, Library Meeting Room

This session, led by Brian Davison, will focus on the castles of the Norman Conquest – in particular what the Normans were up to in Normandy in the ten years or so before the Conquest and in the ten years or so after 1066. A very narrow span of years, but a lot happened in those years!

Brian is a former Senior Inspector of Ancient Monuments at English Heritage, and has written a number of books on the subject of castles. This promises to be a fascinating evening!

Discussion Group covers a wide range of subjects, and if you haven’t been along to a session yet, do try it out this year.

The meetings take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm in the Library Meeting Room, and are FREE to members.  Non-members can attend one session before being asked to join.  If you know of someone who isn’t a member, do bring them along – it’s a great introduction to the Museum.

Future sessions:

Wednesday 1st April
To be confirmed

Wednesday 6th May
The current restoration of the Somersetshire Coal Canal at Timsbury & Paulton Basins to Radford
Derrick Hunt

Topics for later in 2015 will be announced nearer the time in the Museletter, as well as being posted here on the website and on our Facebook page, and on Twitter (@BoAMuseum).

If you would like to suggest a topic, or would like to offer to lead a session, please contact Kate Turnbull (Museum Trustee) on 01225 866328 or at turnbullke@googlemail.com
