Old Photographs: Cricket

Group photographs of cricket teams seem to be less common than those of football teams.

On 26th June 1880 The Wiltshire Times  reported a meeting was held at the Swan Hotel for the purpose of forming a town cricket club.

Spencer Moulton Cricket Club

A group photograph that was taken on the occasion of a match between the Bradford rubber works cricket team and a visiting team from the London office of the George Spencer Rubber Company, probably between 1925 and 1935. The location seems to be the Victory Field, between Frome Road and Barton Farm, where cricket is still played today in the summer. The photographer has made them all look to their right to get their faces in profile.
